However, above that section in the River <br />the water becomes quite shallow (about two to three fee0 and it would be difficult to get through <br />there even with a small boat. Mr. O'Brien asked what is meant by the term "wake" and stated <br />his opinion that areas of the River above 153rd Avenue have experienced very little boat activity <br />except for pontoon boats which don't travel all that fast. He stated the issue in his mind is what <br />the City is considering a "wake." Mr. O'Brien asked if a fishing boat with a 20-horse motor <br />traveling wide open is a wake, or a runabout with an 80-horse motor running at half speed is a <br />wake. He suggested that the issue of one's definition of "wake" be taken into consideration. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman thanked the audience for attending the meeting tonight to provide <br />this input. He asked if there is anyone else who has not yet had the opportunity to speak. <br /> <br />Ms. Frolik stated she has received three letters: Roger and Lynda Larson, 14805 Waco Street in <br />support of the no wake zone and suggesting it be extended to cover the Rivers Bend area;. <br />Wilbur Dom, 16610 Fluorine Street NW, in support of the proposed code amendment to <br />establish a no wake zone through the Ramsey corporate limits; and Dick and Sharon Jensen, <br />15825 Juniper Ridge Drive, in support of the no wake zone to preserve the River as it is for as <br />long as possible. <br /> <br />Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman asked that these three letters be entered into the record. He advised <br />that this issue will be taken up by the Council later tonight. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to close the public <br />hearing at 7:01 p.m. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman, Councilmembers Beahen, Beyer, and <br />Haas Steffen. Voting No: None. Absent: Mayor Garnet. <br /> <br />ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to adjourn the <br />hearing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Pro Tem Zimmerman, Councilmembers Beahen, Beyer, and <br />Haas Steffen. Voting No: None.
