CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Councilmember Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Couneilmember Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Councilmember Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />Police Chief David Gustafson <br />Fire Chief/Director of Public Works Dean Kapler <br />Acting Finance Officer Diana Lund <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular City Council meeting to order at 7:18 p.m. and led the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION: THE FUTURE IS NOW - A PLANNING VIDEO <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec advised that the video presentation will not be made tonight due to the late start <br />time of the Council meeting. Staff was requested to place this item on an upcoming agenda. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Councilmembers Haas Steffen and Beahen commented on the recent water fight competition <br />between the Council and Ramsey Fire Department and jokingly suggested "sensitivity training" <br />be provided to the members of the Fire Department. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec clarified that there was an event at the annual Lions Community Picnic involving <br />a competition with the Fire Department which was very exciting. He reported that he was <br />invited to a practice house burning and had the opportunity to wear the fire fighting gear and <br />enter the burning building. He stated his respect for the members of the Fire Department for the <br />job they do as well as the training they have.
