The Council reviewed the memo regarding the Northstar Corridor Commuter Rail Feasibility/Major Investment Study. Councilmember Haas Steffen was not certain this location is in the best interest of the City of Ramsey because further to the west is being developed industry. She thought that the City should be talking to Mr. Hoisington (the City's Comprehensive Planner) about this. Mr. Norman mentioned that he would be bringing the two concept plans that had been received for Ramsey. 2) League of Minnesota Cities Seminar Mayor Gamec commented that the League seminar was very informative.. 3) Comprehensive Planning Councilmember Haas Steffen inquired if there will be more public hearings with regard to the Comprehensive Plan planning process. She felt that another public hearing is necessary. She noted that the City is getting a legal opinion that could stir concern in the community. We need to have more than one meeting and maybe in more than one place. It's really important to involve the public. It was noted that the Planning Commission will be holding another public hearing with regard to the Comprehensive Plan. 4) Information on Ramsey Booklet Mayor Gamec reported on the cost and style of a booklet/brochure about Ramsey to serve as information to its residents. The cost would be somewhere between $3,500 and $4,000. Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to proceed with the booklets and pay for them out of the Council Contingency Fund. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen, Beyer, Beahen and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. 5) Old School House #28 Councilmember Haas Steffen stated that she found a memorandum of understanding from back in 1980, and from that memo it appears that Anoka County may have some cost share in the rehabilitation of the facility.
