2) Appreciation

Mayor Gamec expressed his thanks and appreciation to Deputy City Clerk Jo Thieling and all the
election judges for their hard work during the election.

3) Joint Meeting

City Administrator Norman suggested a joint meeting with the Planning Commission to discuss
the Comprehensive Plan might be in order. The transportation portion is in need of discussion.

Councilmember Haas Steffen stated that if the Metropolitan Council thinks Ramsey can take on
5,000 new homes, something has to be done about transportation. She noted there is no
statement dealing with this issue in the Comprehensive Plan. We cannot cooperation with the
Met Council when they do not recognize the uniqueness of our situation. A park and ride is
needed, T.H. #47 cannot be a four-lane, etc. These things make sense in terms of transportation.
We have no idea if the Met Council will do a study on T.H. #10. She feels that these very
important items have to be stated in the Comprehensive Plan. It has to be a bold statement -
probably right in the beginning. Density and sensitive land use issues are important to discuss.

Mr. Norman suggested a joint meeting for November 16, immediately following the Road and
Bridge Committee meeting.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Beahen and seconded by Mayor Gamec to adjourn the meeting.

Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beahen and Haas Steffen. Voting
No: None. Absent: Councilmembers Beyer and Zimmerman.

The regular meeting of the Canvassing Board adjourned at 5:43 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
~~~ecordl. ng Secretary ' k._f
ministrator
Canvassing Board/November 4, 1998
Page 2 of 2
