Councilmember Dehen commented this is basically an opening surrounded by a concrete wall
that is the same height as the whole parking structure.. The only concern he would have is how
someone would.be found if they were to fall in. He would suggest a grate be installed or some
plywood with bracing.
Chairperson Elvig suggested the possibility of a panic bar being installed on the door.
Consensus of the Committee was to direct staff to pursue the costs of a panic bar being installed
on the door and the installation of a grate cover.
COMMITTEE INPUT
Lighting and Signag_e at Municipal Ramp
Chairperson Elvig directed staff to look into the amount of lights necessary at the municipal
parking ramp at night, and to ensure that the signage is in good condition.
Councilmember Dehen suggested the possibility of barricading the upper levels of the ramp to
keep traffic on the lower levels in order to eliminate the need to light the upper levels until the
ramp begins filling up.
157` Lane and Ramsey Boulevard Feasibility Study Informational Meeting
City Engineer Jankowski announced an informational meeting is scheduled for the 157` Lane
and Ramsey Boulevard feasibility studies on Thursday, March 22 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the
Alexander Ramsey Room. The meeting will include an open housee type format with a brief
presentation.
ADJOURNMENT
Motion by Councilmember Olson, seconded by Councilmember Dehen, to close the regular
meeting of the Public Works Committee.
Motion carried.
The regular meeting of the Public Works Committee adjourned at 7:00 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Brian Olson
Public Works Director
Drafted by Carol Hamer
Timesaver Off Site Secretarial, Inc.
Public Works Committee/ March 20, 2007
