The residents that signed the petition were envisioning a project that would generally be confined to
Helium Street and 150` Lane east of Helium Street to the eastern plat boundary. This would be a
smaller project and would require re- excavation of the street in the future if the remainder of the
development requested sewer and water. Confining the project to this area will require acquisition
of land for ponding outside this development as the lowest point on 150 Lane is to the east in the
Ramsey Commons 2 nd Addittion.
The feasibility study can be revised to address the residents concerns or it can be forwarded. to the
City Council which would probably result in generation of a counter petition to stop the project.
There • is a staff input item later on the agenda to discuss the ponding situation that occurred this
spring on the Asmussen lots that are covered by the drainage and utility easement.
Funding Source:
The primary source of the construction cost would be assessment of the benefiting properties, the
watermain upsizing would come from the Water Utility Fund , the cost is $1.0,920. The difference in
street width cost would come from the Street Maintenance Fund. This would need to be added to the
2008 budget, the cost is $12,636.
Staff Recommendation:
Staff requests Committee input on revisions to the feasibility study and potential concessions the
City would consider.
Council Action:
Motion to recommend revision of the feasibility study to address the .resident concerns.
Or
Motion to forward the feasibility study to the City Council for review.
Reviewed by:
Public Works Director/Principal City Engineer
PW: 04/17/07
48
