Member LeTourneau requested a future agenda include look at the inventory of industrial park
land in the City. Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan replied when this topic was
previously discussed he was directed to attempt beginning the process to obtain land by the
landfill. He has made those contacts, which has been difficult. The MPCA is currently going
through the process of considering a rezoning of their area around the landfill, but has not come
out with a plan yet. Chairperson Riley suggested a second option for industrial land be
determined. Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan indicated the future meetings agenda
will include a case on a bus tour of businesses in the City as well as an inventory of industrial
land.

Member Kiefer inquired about the status of a cost comparison for starting new businesses as was
discussed during the last City Council meeting. Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan
replied he has put together a list of cities and contacted a couple of them. There will be a
NAJOP study coming out in the next month or so that will provide a lot of the desired
information.

Member Steffen asked if the City is in discussions with a fitness center along with a hotel and
conference center. Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan replied a group led by Jim
Deal and Kurt Martinson brought the concept before the Council at a worksession.

ADJOURN

Motion by Member Kiefer, seconded by Member LeTourneau, to adjourn the meeting.

Motion carried.
