•
PURCHASE STAINLESS STEEL COUNTERS FOR CENTRAL PARK'S
NEW SHELTER
By: Mark Riverblood, Parks Supervisor
Background:
On March 28 t ', 2006, City Council authorized the construction of the replacement of the
concession stand and shelter at Central Park with a larger, modern structure. Council also
approved an Add Alternate of $57, 800 for the `rough -in' for bathrooms; bringing the
total building cost to $369,300. The Ramsey Lion's have funded this project by a
contribution of $367,000.
Observations:
On October 24 2006 Council authorized $44,410 in Lawful Gambling Funds to provide
septic, water service and plumbing; so that the building would be fully functional for
concession sales for the various youth association's use. In late April, when the plumber
was to set the sink in the main part of the building, it was revealed that by omission the
counter for the sink was not included in either the original plans or specifications; nor
DNR Construction's subsequent quote for plumbing `upgrades'
• The Anoka Ramsey Youth Association was contacted to see if they were interested in
contributing a part of the $4,986 necessary for the purchase of two stainless steel counters
with installation. The president indicated this is likely, pending their Board approval.
The attached Resolution is structured accordingly.
Funding Source:
The purchase of the counters represents less than 1% of the project and would be funded
by the Lawful Gambling Fund.
City Council Action:
Approve Resolution #05 — 08 - XX, authorizing the expenditure of Lawful Gambling
Funds for two stainless steel counters.
Reviewed by:
Parks Supervisor
Public Works Director
• Finance Director
CC: 05/08/07
Copies to:
City Administrator
—59—
