Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #03-01- RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRIBUTION TOWARD COST OF EMPLOYEE HEALTH INSURANCE BENEFITS WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey must attract and retain quality employees to serve the community; and WHEREAS, competitively priced health insurance is an essential benefit neceSsary to effectively compete for quality employees; and WHEREAS, the collective bargaining agreements between the City and it s employee unions AFSCME and LELS requires that we negotiate the city contribution toward health insurance benefits; and WHEREAS, it serves the city's interest to provide non-union employees with comparable benefits to union employees; and WHEREAS, the administration has negotiated with the unions and reached a tentative agreement regarding city contribution toward the cost of health insurance benefits. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City Council of the City of Ramsey confirms the recommendation of the Personnel Committee to do the following: A. Provide a contribution of up to $ 376.00 toward the cost of single health insurance coverage for all eligible employees and, B. Provide a contribution of $ 592.00 toward the cost of family health insurance coverage for'all eligible employees and, C. Approve a contingency transferin an amount not toexceed $ 8,000 covering the additional cost of employer contribution toward health insurance cost. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 14® day of January, 2003. -297-
