introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #03-01- A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO DNR FOR FIREWISE GRANT FOR TRAPROCK COMMONS NEIGHBORHOOD WHEREAS, on August 14, 2002, some residents of the Traprock Commons subdivision· approached City Council for assistance in resolving an escalating problem with dead, dying and diseased Scotch Pine trees; and WHEREAS, the City Council directed City Staff to meet with the neighborhood representatives to identify problems associated with the overly dense tree cover and offer some alternatives to remedy the situation; and WHEREAS, on November 7, 2002, representatives of City Staff and.the Department of Natural Resources met with residents of Traprock Commons and information was distributed regarding the potential for a Firewise Grant to address planning for thinning, disposal and replanting as an effort to reduce factors that contribute to frre hazard and increase forest health and vigor; and WHEREAS, the Traprock Commons response to the Firewise Grant opportunity exceeded the minimum participation criteria of 50%. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1. That the City of Ramsey hereby authorizes City Staff to apply to DNR for the Firewise Grant for the purpose of providing planning for thinning, disposal of overdense, dying, and diseased Scotch Pines in the Traprock Commons area, and reforestation planning. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember __ , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 14th day of January, 2003.
