introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #03-01- <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO DNR FOR FIREWISE GRANT <br />FOR TRAPROCK COMMONS NEIGHBORHOOD <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on August 14, 2002, some residents of the Traprock Commons subdivision· <br />approached City Council for assistance in resolving an escalating problem with dead, dying and <br />diseased Scotch Pine trees; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council directed City Staff to meet with the neighborhood <br />representatives to identify problems associated with the overly dense tree cover and offer some <br />alternatives to remedy the situation; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on November 7, 2002, representatives of City Staff and.the Department of <br />Natural Resources met with residents of Traprock Commons and information was distributed <br />regarding the potential for a Firewise Grant to address planning for thinning, disposal and <br />replanting as an effort to reduce factors that contribute to frre hazard and increase forest health <br />and vigor; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Traprock Commons response to the Firewise Grant opportunity <br />exceeded the minimum participation criteria of 50%. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1. That the City of Ramsey hereby authorizes City Staff to apply to DNR for the Firewise Grant <br /> for the purpose of providing planning for thinning, disposal of overdense, dying, and <br /> diseased Scotch Pines in the Traprock Commons area, and reforestation planning. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember __ <br /> , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council <br />this the 14th day of January, 2003. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br />-70- <br /> <br /> <br />
