PC CASE #: ~2, <br /> <br /> HEALTH INSURANCE CONTRIBUTION CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS <br /> By: Curt Boganey, Acting Human. Resources Manager <br />Background: <br /> <br />The collective bargaining agreement with Law Enforcement Labor SerVices, (LELS) requires <br />tllat we annually negotiate the city contribution toward the cost of health insurance benefits. <br /> <br />On January 14"' we met with the LELS and AFSME in a final round of negotiations. We were <br />able to reach agreement with AFSME at that time. Subsequ'ently, that evening the City Council <br />considered and approved implementation of the following agreement with ASFCME and other <br />eligible non-represented employees. <br /> <br />The contract provisions include: <br /> <br />[llsurallce: <br /> <br />Employer contribution to single coverage will increase from <br />$ 297.33 to an amount not to exceed $ 376.00 effective January <br />2003; <br /> <br />Employer contribution to family coverage will increase from <br />$ 500 per month to $ 598.00 per month, effective January 1, <br />2003; <br /> <br />Beginning February 1st 2003, the City will provide MajOr Medical <br />Insurance as a new low cost option. <br /> <br />Beginning February 1 st 2003, the City will provide health insurance <br />with a $15.00 Office Visit Co-Pay and 100 % Hospitalization. <br /> <br />Employer agrees to continue exploring options for the most cost- <br />effective health insurance program with input from the employee <br />relations committee. <br /> <br />Employees whO waive coverage will continue to receive $ 290.00- <br />per month in accordance with previous Council action. <br /> <br />On January 21, 2003 the City received a notification from LELS stating its' willingness to accept <br />the same proposal as stated above and as provided to ali other eligible employees. <br /> <br />.133- <br /> <br /> <br />
