Pc# q <br /> <br />CONSIDER RE-APPOINTMENTS TO PARKt AND RECREATION COMNIISSION <br /> Curt Boganey Interim Human Resource Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br /> As of the October 31, 2002, terms expired for two members of the Parks and Recreation <br />Commission. Each of these members was contacted and has expressed a desire to be re-appointed. <br />Under the term limit ordinance adopted in 1997 Commissioners are allowed to serve two consecutive <br />four-year terms and the completion ora partial term~ <br /> <br />in the case of Ms. Johns, she has served one partial'term ending in 1998.and one four year tenn. Her <br />reappointment would be her second and final four-year term. In the case of Mr. Lamere he has served <br />one partial term ending in 1996, one two year term ending in 1998, and one four year term. If re- <br />appointed this would be his second and final four-year term. <br /> <br />If these members are re-appointed to four-year terms, Park Commissioner terms will expire as follows: <br /> <br />10/31/08 Asfahl <br />10/31/06 Vacant <br />10/3 l/06 Lamere <br />10/31/06 Johns <br />10/31/05 Drogemueller <br />10/31/05 Ostrmn <br />10/31/05 Rolfe <br /> <br />While this arrangement does not result in an ideal stagger of terms, the Council may be able to <br />improve the stagger by making future new appointments with partial terms. <br /> <br />Stall' Recommendation: <br />Staff is recommending that Commissioners Jolms and Lamere be re-appointed for a second four-year <br />term to the Parks and Recreation Commission for the term of 11/01/02-10/31/06. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br />I.
