-34- Further discussion: Mayor Gamec stated that his concern is if they take this action are they going to have to go through this discussion with every priority street light. Councilmember Zimmerman replied that most people probably don't care. Mr. Jagerson noted that there is also an intersection on his property going into Traprock Park and he does not want to see a light there in the future either. City Engineer Jankowski replied that that intersection is on the priority street light schedule, but will not be done this year. Mayor Gamec inquired if it will even be possible for Connexus to install the light this year with the delay. Mr. Offerman replied that they do have winter charges going into affect, which would be the only difference. Mayor Gamec stated that he would personally prefer to have the light installed, but if they do what is in the motion it will take another 60 days so maybe should the delay it and look at it at a different time. He recommended that they stop the project this year and move it until next year. City Engineer Olson stated that Mr. Jagerson has stated that he does not want a light at the intersection going into the park so how does staff address that issue. He questioned who does staff notify when they do decide to install the light at 158th and Variolite in the future, He expressed concern that they might be setting precedent. Councilmember Kurak stated that she personally thinks that asking residents their opinion is great; but when they are talking about priority lighting they are walking down a slippery slope. She stated that if the light is not warranted at this time she would prefer to place the light at a different intersection. City Engineer Jankowski stated that they can place the intersection of 158th and Variolite as the last intersection to receive a light. Councilmember Hendriksen stated that they have already set precedent in some extent to do what the citizens want. The motion was amended to remove the priority street light for the intersection of 158th and Variolite at this time and address it at a later date, but noting that they should take intO acc°unt the wishes of the residents. Further discussion: Mr. Jagerson inquired if he could be notified the next time the issue will be discussed. Mayor Gamec replied that that is difficult for them to do. Councilmember Hendriksen suggested that Mr. Jagerson let them know what the consensus is of the neighborhood regarding the light. Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec and Councilmembers Hendriksen, Anderson, Kurak, and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. Mr. Jagerson stated that the light poles along Alpine Drive don't match and inquired if. something could be done s° that they would match. Mr. Offerman replied that he would look into that. Councilmember Anderson stated that at the intersection of 156th Lane and T.H. 47 there is a priority light and inquired as to how,Connexus determines what angle the light should face. Mr. Offerman revieWed how the lighting is determined for an intersection and how the policy has changed over the years because photometrics have changed.
