-42- <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he did not believe that the City could take over maintenance of their <br />street. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson stated that the City would have to bring the street up to City standards <br />before the City would be able to take it. over, which would not be possible in this situation. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilmember Kurak, to recommend ro the City council <br />that the private street continue to be maintained by the Rum River Hills Homeowners <br />Association. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Kurak, Anderson, Hendriksen, <br />and Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE INPUT <br /> <br />1) Update on Highway #47 hump south of 167th Avenue NW <br /> <br />Principal City Engineer Otson stated that staff was directed to put together a cost estimate to <br />remove the hump on T.H. #47 south of 167th Avenue NW. The hump is about 600 feet long and <br />raises 6 feet from the north to the south. The cost to remove the hump would be $130,000 to <br />$150,000 depending on the slope easements. <br /> <br />Councilmember Kurak ~nquired as to why the City would be paying for the removal of the hump <br />when it is a State road. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec replied because the State won't do it. <br /> <br />Ms. Nutter stated that you can't see anyone coming over the hump when turning out of 167th <br />Avenue. She stated that it is a horrible situation because you can't see either direction. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that the intersection of 167th Avenue and T.H: #47 meets <br />warrants for some portions of the day-for signalization, but not at all times. He ~nquired if there <br />was anything in the process that would consider that there ~s restricted vision to the south to help <br />justify the light. <br /> <br />Principal City Engineer Olson replied no. <br /> <br />CoUncilmember Zimmerman stated that in the future there will be lights at the intersection and <br />inquired if the hump removal could be incorporated with that project by the State. <br /> <br />Principal City Engineer Olson replied that he thought it was something that could be brought to <br />State's attention.
