PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br /> · CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Personnel Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 2003, at <br />· the Ramsey Fire Station Number II, 15050 Armstrong Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Thomas Gamec <br /> Councilmember David Elvig <br /> Councilmember Patti Kurak <br /> Councilmember A1 Pearson <br /> Councilmember Sarah Strommen <br /> Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Todd Cook <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James. E. Norman <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi Nelson <br />Police Chief James Way <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Consider Re-Organization of Police Department <br /> <br />Police Chief Way stated that at the Public Safety Board meeting of January 16, 2003, a case was <br />presented for re-organization of the Police Department. He explained that the proposed structure <br />provides for increased supervision for each shift, with the creation of an additional Sergeant <br />position and elimination of the Corporal position. Additionally~ with the creation of the Captain <br />position, the role of second in command within the Department is more clearly defined apart <br />from the role of the Sergeants. The fiscal implications of this change are minimal. There would <br />be no change in salary for the Captain position from the current salary for the First Sergeant <br />position. The elimination of the Corporal position and subsequent creation .of an additional <br />Sergeant position would have a budget impact of $820 for 2003. The additional funds required <br />for the potential reorganization in 2003 were included in the 2003 budget.
