I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> PC# <br /> <br />CONSIDER APPOINTMENT TO PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> By: Givonna Reed, Interim Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As of the October 31, 2002, the term expired for Parks and Recreation Commission member <br />Todd Cook. Subsequent to this expiration Mr. Cook was elected to serVe as a member of the City <br />Council. As member of the Council Mr. Cook is not eligible for re-appointment to the. Parks and <br />Recreation Commission. Therefore the staff advertised to fill this vacancy on the commission. <br /> <br />The City received letters of interest from five citizens expressing a desire to serVe on the Parks <br />and Recreation Commission. These five individuals were invited to interview before the <br />Personnel Committee regarding their interest and qualifications to serve. Interviews were held <br />February 11, 2003 and two applicants were unable to be present for the interViews, Laurie Dustin <br />and Karen Green. These two applicants will be interviewed at the February 25, 2003 meeting. <br /> <br />The Personnel Committee, in consultation with the review panel, should determine whiCh of the <br />candidates is best suited at this time to serve a four-year term ending October 31, 2006. With this <br />appointment, the Parks and Recreation Commission will have a full complement of seven <br />members. <br /> <br />Included with this packet are copies of the letters of interest, a brief background summary for <br />each applicant and recommended questions for the panel to ask. The review panel will be <br />composed of the Personnel Committee, the Chair and Vice Chair of the Commission and an ex- <br />officio staff member. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend that the City Council appoint <br />the Parks and Recreation Commission serving a full four-year term ending October 3 l, <br />2006. <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Approve the Personnel Committee recommendation to appoint <br /> to the Parks and Recreation Commission to a full four-year <br />term ending October 31, 2006. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Copies Distributed to: <br />Parks Supervisor <br /> <br />PC: 02/25/03 <br /> <br />\\RA_FS l\VOLl\HumanResources\Commissions\Park and Rec~2003~Appt of Parks Comm 022503.case.doc <br /> <br />-259- <br /> <br /> <br />
