CASE REQUEST TO CHANGE NAME OF ANOKA COUNTY HIGHWAY 116 (INDUSTRY AVE. N.W.) TO BUNKER LAKE BOULEVARD: CASE OF CITY OF RAMSEY By: Principal Planner Patrick Trudgeon, AICP Background: The proposed Ramsey Town Center project will have considerable frontage along Anoka County Highway 116. It is the intent of the proposed development to have some units fronting on County Highway 116. At their March 27, 2003 meeting, the Town Center Task Force discussed the possibility of changing the name of Highway 116 from Industry Ave. The Task Force decided to recommend changing the name of Hwy. 116 (Industry Ave.) to Bunker Lake Boulevard. The Task Force £elt that the name of Industry Ave. no longer was appropriate given the proposed Town Center development. They also felt that the name change would bring Ramsey into conformance with what County Highway 116 is named in the rest of Anoka County. The. 'following.items are enclosed: a) b) Site location map Location of properties currently having addresses on Industry Ave. Observations: Included with the case is a map showing the 23 properties that currently have addresses on Industry Ave. Staff would propose that the name change take effect within a year of official City Council action on the name change in order to give these property owners time to make the necessary changes to reflect the renaming of County Highway 116. The proposed name change will need to be passed by City Ordinance after a public hearing. Recommendation: Staff recommends that the public hearing for the name change of Highway 116 from Industry Ave to Bunker Lake Blvd. be advertised and held at a future City Council meeting.
