During the course of the Park and
Recreation Commission's review of the Village of Sunfish Lake, it was discussed that the timing
for examining the property for park purposes should coincide with the development of the plat.
The area west of Sunfish Lake Boulevard has been proposed for park purposes for some time as
one of the few lake accesses potentially available to Ramsey residents. Within the last few years
the City acquired this property as part of an industrial land purchase south of the new Sunwood
Drive extension. The Park Commission recommended initiating concept planning for all the
municipal property adjacent to the lake, but in addition also looking to the fi,~ture development
potential in the immediate vicinity. A Work Plan/Request for Proposal was prepared in
anticipation of the need to begin planning for the site. One important aspect of the required
scope of work is understanding future desired land use in the project area. Staff met with HKGi,
the firm that assisted the City's Comprehensive Plan process. If the City Council supports the
planning project as laid forth, a quotation may be solicited from HKGI and approved at a
subsequent Council meeting.

City Administrator Norman noted that when staff sends out the Request for Proposal they may
want to expand the map to surround Sunfish Lake.

City Council/April 22, 2003
