Memo

Date:
Re:

Mayor and City Council

Sylvia Frolik, Community Development Director

5/21/2003

Appointment to Environmental Policy Task Force

Originally, City Council appointed 9 citizens to the Environmental Policy Task Force. As a result of the
last election, the Task Force lost 2 members to the City Council (Sarah Strommen and Todd Cook).
That left a committee of 7, which the remaining members felt was sufficient to carry out assigned duties
and Ihey did not seek Council direction to fill the two vacancies. Subsequently, Seth Marshall resigned
from the Committee and there is a need to fill that vacancy. The City advertised and received one
application from Nathan Eklund (see attachment). The Task Force interviewed Nathan on May 15 and
is respectfully requesting that the City Council appoint Nathan Eklund to the Environmental Policy Task
Force effective immediately.

-111-
