Case # q <br /> <br />REVIEW DRAFT HOUSING MAINTENANCE AND LICENSING CODE <br />By: Sylvia Frolik, Community Development Director <br /> Amy Geisler, Community Development Intern <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In 2002, the City Council directed staff to review and update City Code as it relates to the <br />maintenance of all housing in the City of Ramsey, as well as the licensing of rental <br />housing. The Ramsey Housing Committee has reviewed the draft code and forwarded it <br />to the City Council for its review. <br /> <br />The following items are enclosed for your information: <br /> <br />a) Draft Housing Maintenance Ordinance <br />b) Draft Rental Housing Licensing Ordinance <br />c) Housing Committee minutes dated 2/20/2003, 3/20/2003, and 4/17/2003 <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />Staff has ch'awn up a draft Housing Maintenance ordinance and Rental Housing Licensing <br />ordinance. The Building Department has reviewed the cOde and found it to be <br />comprehensive and enforceable. The attached draft also include~ an update to the <br />Licensing section of the Code to address licensing of rental housing in the City. The draft <br />ordinance is drawn largely from related code adopted by the City of Coon Rapids, which <br />was [~ound to be very comprehensive. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Review the proposed ordinances and advise staff of any suggestions for additions or <br />deletions.
