Chairperson Nixt requested clarification that the garage space would be 17,000 square feet with the addition. Mr. Sigler indicated that is the combined size of the structures, including his horse stable. Commissioner Trites Rolle noted the structure space will be 12,000 square feet over the limit. Chairperson Nixt stated he supports this. They need to recognize the unique value of being in Ramsey where they can be in an urban area, but if you want storage for your toys and hobbies you are entitled to it. This is a 10 -acre lot. He would rather have the things inside than outside, but he would lean towards requiring additional screening. Associate Planner Dalnes indicated there are plans for additional trees to be planted on Armstrong Boulevard. Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Trites Rolle, to close the public hearing. Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Trites Rolle, Brauer, Cleveland, Hunt, Levine, and Van Scoy. Voting No: None. Absent: None. The public hearing was closed at 8:29 p.m. Commissioner Brauer returned to the meeting at 8:29 p.m. Commission Business Chairperson Nixt called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at 8:29 p.m. Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Van Scoy, to recommend that City Council adopt Findings of Fact favorable to Jeffrey Sigler's request for a conditional use permit. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Van Scoy, Cleveland, Hunt, Levine, and Trites Rolle. Voting No: None. Absent: None. Abstain: Commissioner Brauer. Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Levine, to recommend that City Council approve Jeffrey Sigler's request for a conditional use permit for an overage in allowable accessory structure space and single building size restrictions, with the applicant to work with staff on a landscaping plan for adequate screening. -194-
