CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 1997, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Tom Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Finance Officer Jessie Hart <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:04 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Ken Peterson, 15407 Hematite Street NW, Ramsey - stated that he is present with Fire Chief <br />Kapler to talk about a program they would like to start in Ramsey. He disseminated some <br />information from the City of Coon Rapids relating to an Adopt-A-Hydrant Program. With the <br />large amount of snow, it's hard for the Public Works to keep this up. He stated he would like to <br />be authorized to search for volunteers to shovel and mow, etc. the area around the fire hydrants. <br />The City of Coon Rapids also let's their residents paint the hydrant they adopt. He suggested, if <br />Council agrees to this program, information could be placed in the Ramsey Resident. He stated <br />that he has talked with Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith and she will be checking out <br />the liability with this program. As soon as that's cleared, she will let him know. He also offered <br />to have the City Attorney look over this program. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec was impressed with the program and stated that he would be in favor of it if there is <br />no liability problems. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to proceed with the Adopt-A- <br />Hydrant Program contingent upon checking out the City's liability. <br /> <br />Motion carded. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beahen, Beyer, Haas Steffen and <br />Zimmerman. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to approve the <br />agenda as presented. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
