• City Engineer Jankowski replied the road was built in the late 1980's.
Chairperson Elvig explained the policy was changed after this road was built to be far more
stringent. Mr. Peterson has said most of the people in this subdivision want to sell, and he was
considering rebuilding the roads. The question now is if that development will not move forward
as quickly as intended.
Councilmember Olson suggested staff talk with Mr. Peterson to check on the status of the
development.
Councilmember Dehen asked if there is any alternative for the residents other than ripping out
the road and putting in a. new road.
Public Works Supervisor Reimer replied the road can be patched until a decision is made
regarding the development.
Consensus of the Committee was to direct staff to have Mr. Peterson report to the Committee
regarding the future development in the Now and Then Estates subdivision.
COMMITTEE INPUT
Renaming of 167 Avenue
• Chairperson Elvig requested consideration of renaming 167 Avenue and indicated he would
like to pitch the name of Here There Avenue. This is something they could have fun with tying
it into Now and Then Street.
Indoor Dome Facility for Parks
Chairperson Elvig stated he has had people come to him the last couple of weeks about an indoor
dome facility for parks. A suggestion for the location is the west soccer field at Alpine Park. He
has passed information on to Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Riverblood. There is a facility
located in Plymouth that gets a tremendous amount of use. It includes a walking trail, batting
cages and soccer fields and is open all winter and summer.
Update on Feasibility Study and Citizen Input for Pondvale Sewer and Water Exten
Civil Engineer H Linton reported staff has been working with Hakanson Anderson Associates,
Inc. on the feasibility study for sewer and water extension at Pondvale. The information will be
included on the June agenda. Staff has not received any additional input from the citizens yet.
Chairperson Elvig directed staff to include information regarding the water holding area on the
Asmussen property.
• ADJOURNMENT
Public Works Committee / May 15, 2007
-133-
