Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan stated he had this exact discussion with the <br />business owner. The extent of the outside storage would be one or two flatbed trailers for <br />moving. The owner cannot let any machinery be stored outside due to liability. The lot is <br />somewhat limited and his operation will allow for trucks to drive in one side and out the other, <br />which is the reason for the turn around space. <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if there is any language that restricts storage or any type of controls <br />regarding long -term outside storage. <br />Assistant Community Development Director Frolik indicated outside storage is an accessory use <br />in the Employment District and is addressed in the development agreement. <br />City Attorney Goodrich advised the City is selling this property and can place restrictions on the <br />deed. <br />Councilmember Elvig indicated his concern is getting into conditions similar to what they are <br />trying to abate in other areas of the City. <br />City Attorney Goodrich advised the restriction could be added subject to the business owner's <br />acceptance. <br />Councilmember Elvig suggested staff look into this and make a proposal. <br />Mayor Gamec stated the main thing was to get everything inside. The company currently <br />operates out of two buildings in Anoka, and they are looking to get everything inside so it is <br />covered and protected. Some of the equipment this company moves is expensive. <br />Mr. Dennis Sharp, Sharp and Associates, stated the biggest reason for the large area in the back <br />is that the business hauls some very heavy equipment on long flatbeds. The interior structure is <br />being designed to hold an 80 -ton crane. With a flatbed and a 5 ffi wheel if some of the equipment <br />is kiddy - whompus they will not be able to get the machines indoors. The reason for that area is <br />to be able to pull in and make a big circle without getting the truck j ackknifed and tipping a load. <br />Councilmember Elvig asked if there will be a new agreement if this property changes hands. <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan replied this agreement allows the business to <br />operate within five years of the development agreement. If the development agreement is <br />transferred, and with that the tax increment financing, the City needs to approve that. At that <br />point they would review with the operator what is required. <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to grant approval of the <br />proposed site plan contingent upon compliance with City Staff Review Letter dated June 1, 2007. <br />Motion carried.
