Background/Justification: The intersection has a crash .history that includes 2 fatal crashes (6/17/05 and 2/1 0/2006). We have reviewed the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) database periodically in the past for this intersection, but the database has not shown an accident history of significance (2004=1 crash 9/1/2004). Following the 2/10/2006 fatal crash, we again reviewed the DPS database. B.ecause the 2005 crash data was not yet a.vailable in the DPS database, we requested copies of the 2005 Accident Reports directly from the City of Ramsey Police Department. In discussions with Ramsey PD, they indicated that 2 crashes occurred at the intersection in 2005, but then added that 7 crashes occurred in 2004. Since this conflicted with the information that was reflected in the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety database for 2004, we asked Ramsey PD to provide us with copies of the 2004and 2005 Accident Reports they had written for this intersection. We then consulted with MnDOT for an e.xplanation. This resulted in the discovery of errors (missing accident records) in the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety databasefor the intersection ofCR 57 at Alpine Drive. As a result, MnDOT has now corrected the DPS database for this intersection. PWC Meeting Date: 3/6/06 Item Request Type: ~ Action o Information .........: Our follow-up crash review indicates that an All-Way Stop is warranted at the intersection ofCR57 (Sunfish Lake Blvd) at Alpine Drive on the basis of crash occurrence (5 or more reported crashes occurring in a 12-month period that are susceptible to correction by a mulit-way stop installation). The Accident Rate is 2.84 per million vehicles (AR/mv) and the Severity Rate is 11.37 (SR/mv) for the intersection. The crash diagrams, Accident Rates and Severity Rates for CR 57 at Alpine Drive and other comparative intersections on the county highway system that have been brought to the PWC in the past for consideration of an All- Way Stop installation are attached for reference purposes.
