CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 23, 1997, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />Finance Officer Jessie Hart <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the City Council to order at 7:03 p.m. <br />Councilmember Beahen led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />LETTER OF COMMENDATION FOR POLICE OFFICER BRAD PAPLHAM <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec read a letter written by Police Chief Gustafson commending Officer Brad <br />Paplham for his assistance to the Anoka County Sheriff's Department in an arrest. Police Chief <br />Gustafson, Anoka County Sheriff Larry Podany and Anoka County Commissioner Dennis Berg <br />were on hand to also commend Officer Paplham. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION TO CITY ADMINISTRATOR RYAN SCHROEDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec presented City Administrator Schroeder with a plaque of appreciation and thanks <br />for his seven years of service to the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Ben Moss, 8320 - 157th Lane NW, Ramsey, noted the special election for the Charter <br />amendment where 399 people voted yes and 199 voted no. He has heard people say this means <br />the minority of the citizens of Ramsey are making decisions for the majority of the citizens of <br />Ramsey. He felt that it just means that if there are 9,000 registered voters, there are a lot of <br />"deadbeats" who don't show up to vote.
