~I CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION Topic Report: Second Interviews for City Administrator Finalists By: Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager Background On July 13, 2007 the Ramsey City Council interviewed six finalists for the city administrator position and selected two individuals to advance for second interviews with the city council: Mr. Patrick Trudgeon and Mr. Kurt Ulrich. As directed by the city council, second interviews have been scheduled with each candidate for Monday, July 23,2007. The meeting will begin at 5:30pm and the interviews with candidates will begin at 5:45pm and 6:'15pm. The format for the evening will consist of a I5-minute presentation from each candidate regarding his plan for his first 120 days in the position and a Q&A style dialogue. Interview questions will be provided at the meeting. Council member Elvig and Ms. Andrea Sims of Waters-Oldani Executive Search will both participate in the meeting by telephone. It is my understanding that the expected outcome of the July 23 work session is that the city council will select the city's next city administrator. Next Steps Upon naming the city's next city administrator, staff will bring a resolution fotward at the July 24, 2007 city council meeting requesting that the city council direct Andrea Sims of Waters- Oldani to negotiate an employment agreement with the selected candidate. Once the agreement has been negotiated, staff will bring the agreement to the city council for consideration. Funding Source The estimated cost of the search for a new city administrator is $28,500. The first $20,000 of the search will be paid for from the Miscellaneous Professional Services Fund in the Administrative Services budget and the remainder will need to be paid using an alternate funding source, such as the City Council Contingency Fund Note: If you have not returned your 3-ring binders to me, please bring them to Monday's work session.
