CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a special meeting on Friday, December 19, 1997, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota, for the purpose <br />of approving an employment agreement with James Norman to serve as City Administrator. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Carolyn Beahen <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br /> <br />Members Absent: Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator Linda Waite Smith <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the special meeting of the City Council to order at 6:05 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVEAGENDA <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to approve <br />the agenda as presented. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen, Beahen and Beyer. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: CouncilmemberZimmerman. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Approve Employment Agreement With James Norman <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator Waite Smith explained that the City Council had previously <br />authorized her and Mayor Gamec to negotiate an employment agreement with James Norman of <br />Montevideo to serve as City Administrator of Ramsey. Ms. Waite Smith noted that the City <br />Attorney had reviewed and revised the agreement and that Mr. Norman had been faxed a copy <br />and agreed to the terms. <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen stated that in her opinion the starting salary is too high. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted that Mr. Norman has current offers from two other metro area cities that are <br />paying more than Ramsey. <br /> <br />Special City Council/December 19, 1997 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
