Nelson <br />Finance Officer Diana Lund <br />Public Works Director Brian Olson <br />Community Development Director Patrick Trudgeon <br />ParkslUtilities Supervisor Mark Riverblood <br />Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:35 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />The agenda was approved with the addition of Case No. A: Discussion of Statement regarding Ramsey <br />Town Center <br /> <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />A) Discussion of Statement regarding Ramsey Town Center <br /> <br />Interim City Administrator Nelson stated staff has prepared a statement that is proposed to be read at the <br />beginning of tonight's Council meeting regarding the City's position with Ramsey Town Center. Staff <br />wants to ensure that everyone understands the perspective of how this project started. The City never <br />owned this land; it was purchased by Bruce Nedegaard and his group. The City did not do an RFP for <br />this project; it was a landowner that initiated the project. The City did not have the selection process in <br />contrast to what might have occurred in the Ramsey Crossings project. <br /> <br />Council and staff reviewed the Statement regarding Ramsey Town Center prepared by staff, and <br />discussed the recent newspaper articles regarding Ramsey Town Center. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen suggested the City submit a follow up piece to the Pioneer Press article if <br />possible, as well as a piece in the Anoka County Union. She stated she is not sure that the article was <br />intentionally critical of the City, but it came off with the City looking dysfunctional.
