Board Member Bentz suggested if another city wanted to do the same thing, they should <br />be advised that it might be quicker to skip some of the data collection, and just do the <br />ground - truthing rather than go through map layers. <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson concurred, that in hindsight, it's possible that a lot <br />of data review done in the office could have been eliminated if it was known that every <br />wetland was going to be field verified anyway. <br />Chairperson McDilda stated it is now known that about ten percent of data analysis was <br />changed on field verification. He stated that the Board would probably recommend to <br />other cities to go with field verification if there was a lot of diversity in wetlands from <br />Preserve to Manage 3. <br />Board Member Max concurred now that field verification has been done, there could be a <br />better predicted model. <br />Board Member Bentz stated there might be some future cost savings if the map overlays <br />were stripped out of the process. <br />Board Member Max concurred with Board Member Bentz that soil layers and making <br />predictions about what was there could have been alleviated. <br />Chairperson McDilda suggested taking some time to do post analysis of the process. The <br />EPB has gone through numerous processes with wetland buffers and tree ordinance <br />changes. He suggested doing this, both for Ramsey and for sister cities, because there <br />might be a future preservation program similar to this again some day. <br />Board Member Freeburg asked how Westwood Professional Services data and Bolton & <br />Menk, Inc. data would be merged. <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that the two sets of data should be fairly <br />simple to merge into a GIS database. Potentially a column identifier could be added <br />indicating which firm conducted the field analysis. <br />Board Member Max stated they all use the same database provided by BWSR. <br />Chairperson McDilda wondered if Bolton & Menk, Inc. would verify any of the data <br />already provided by Westwood Professional Services. <br />Board Member Max stated that if one firm upgrades or downgrades a wetland, it would <br />be interesting to see if they are using the same criteria.. <br />Board Member Sibilski stated that he would prefer to hold off on verifying data. <br />Board Member Bentz stated that time has passed.
