He stated a task force was developed to consider
the possibility of replacing the current facility and indicated they investigated several alternatives.
He advised an outdoor pool was preferred and the Aquatic Center is now under construction and
scheduled to open June 1, 1998, and to be opened daily, weather permitting, from 10:00 a.m. to
9:00 p.m.

Mr. Lindberg stated the pool will have a zero entrance and shaped like a lake with no defined
edge on sixty-percent of the pool. He advised the pool will accommodate young, handicapped,
and elderly swimmers. He stated there would be swim lanes for competitive swimming, two
diving boards, a water slide, and a new bath house with a special needs locker room. He added
that bids for the water slide were opened November 12th. He indicated the pool will
accommodate 1,000 swimmers and the facility will accommodate 2,000 people. He stated the
facility will also include a playground structure away from the pool for youngsters.

Mr. Lindberg explained Anoka has committed $1.53 million to the facility and indicated they have
attempted to raise additional money beyond public funds. He advised the facility needs to be
furnished with tables, lawn chairs, etc., and noted approximately $400,000 of additional money is
needed to have the Aquatic Center fully stocked. He stated the purpose of speaking at the Park
and Recreation Commission meeting was to request a contribution from the City of Ramsey to
help finance the project.

Mr. Lindberg said in addition Anoka has been selling individual bricks for $100 which will have
the purchasers name inscribed and placed in the entrance wall to memorialize the donation.
