lots with sewer and water. The Asmussens had suggested there was a document that they would be buildable lots when sewer and water came. Staff has done research at the County and in the City's files and has not found anything that would indicate there is anything but a permanent drainage and utility easement. That being said, the Asmussens were only assessed for one lot, rather than three lots because those two lots would not be buildable in the future. That is one reason that Option I went up slightly. Councilmember Elvig noted that in this area there is a 38-foot new road going into an older, much tighter road. There may be drainage issues involved, and this is an area right outside the school that is constantly servicing parked vehicles going to the school with kids walking. It is a highly accessed area before and after school and events. Something that came up at the Public Works meeting is that he believes the City has a problem they need to fix. That is why the Committee has asked for a few options if the City wants to participate with this. Mayor Gamec clarified with Public Works Director Olson that the normal street width is 32 feet. He asked why the width in this location is 38 feet. Public Works Director Olson explained there has been a lot of discussion about reserving land at the old city hall property for a future school, and the idea was to have a very walkable and parkable roadway. GM Homes proposed the 38-foot wide roadway and the City accepted it based on those conditions. Mayor Gamec verified that the street to the east would be at a 32-foot width. Council member Elvig suggested the Police Chief may want to weigh in on this. He noted one other consideration is if a school is going to be built to the north those properties could potentially be bought out to accommodate a secondary school along Area No.2. Public Works Director Olson indicated that is a consideration, but it has not been discussed at great length. There have been instances where the school has said more than 33 acres would be needed, and the timing is not known on this. Council member Elvig pointed out another thought is the question of putting sewer and water in if the properties may go away to the school at some point. Public Works Director Olson stated if the direction of the Public Works Committee is ratified staff will sit down with the neighborhood to discuss the options. If the residents do not like any of the three options they will be back to the drawing board. Councilmember Jeffrey asked if a date has been set for the meeting and if Council will be notified.
