In 2001, the town adopted a law that eliminated roadside <br />billboards except in certain approved areas. All existing signs were to <br />be removed wit..hin three years from the adoption of the law, but, be- <br />yond that, the law also granted the opportUnity for existing sign own- <br />ers to apply to the town board for a three-year extension. <br />The law applied to a sign 'at Kodogiannis' business, and, in 2005, the <br />tOwn told her that she had to remove the sign. Instead of seeking an ex- <br />tension from the town board, Kodogiannis applied to the zoning board <br />of appeals fora use variance to allow her to keep the sign.
