<br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, August 28,2007, <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember John Dehen <br />Council member David Elvig <br />Councilmember David Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Matt Look <br />Councilmember Mary Jo Olson <br />Councilmember Sarah Strommen <br /> <br />Interim City Administrator Heidi A. Nelson <br />Public Works Director Brian Olson <br />Community Development Director Patrick Trudgeon <br />Management Intern Timothy Gladhill <br />Elwyn Tinklenberg, The Tinklenberg Group <br />Mark Fersman, Northstar Project Director <br />Natalie Haas Steffen, Metropolitan Council <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 5 :03 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />The agenda was approved as submitted. <br /> <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1) Discussion of Northstar Commuter Rail <br /> <br />Mr. Elwyn Tinklenberg, The Tinklenberg Group, stated one of the things that was clear in the <br />aftermath of the 35W Bridge collapse is that as they are looking at alternative ways of moving <br />large numbers of people, Northstar would have provided an opportunity to carry people <br />efficiently into downtown. They have seen from the success of the Hiawatha line that the ability <br />of those kinds of services to do that far exceeds what they had anticipated, especially in special <br />circumstances around ball games or other kinds of events where that additional capacity is <br />needed. Northstar would have been an important part of the overall picture of things like the <br />redesign of 280 and 94 and other transit services. Mr. Tinklenberg stated it occurred to him that <br />this might be an opportunity t 0 talk about accelerating the Full Funding Grant Agreement <br /> <br />City Council Work Session / August 28,2007 <br />Page 1 of5 <br />
