<br />the EDA may want to consider for the 2007 award. Mayor Gamec and Member Kiefer have <br />recommended Bank of the West as the 2007 Business of the Year. <br /> <br />Chairperson Riley requested information regarding the contributions of Bank of the West in <br />relation to the criteria. Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan stated Bank of the West <br />participated heartily in the Ramsey Happy Days event for five years through sponsorship of the <br />parade. The bank has also been very supportive of National Night Out. They also helped the <br />EDA in supplying a warm place to celebrate the redevelopment of the Amoco Station. Bank of <br />the West is well thought of in the community. Mr. Sullivan indicated the only nomination that <br />came from the Business Connection Meeting was Wells Catering. <br /> <br />Member Elvig inquired about job growth and the expansion of tax base associated with Bank of <br />the West. Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan replied all of these companies have not <br />expanded the tax base because they are already located in the City, although they attribute to the <br />tax base. Member Elvig noted Wells Catering has expanded and improved their facility and <br />sponsors activities in the City. <br /> <br />Motion by Member Elvig, seconded by Member Steffen, to award Wells Catering as the 2007 <br />Business of the Year and to authorize staff to purchase a plaque to recognize this achievement. <br /> <br />Member LeTourneau noted Wells Catering is a growing business in the community, but a couple <br />of the other businesses have had a few more years in the community. He inquired what Wells <br />Catering has done to reach out to the community. He noted Coborn's has provided a lot to the <br />community, although it may be early for them to be presented with the Business of the Year <br />award. Zero Zone is a great company, and they have expanded. <br /> <br />The Board discussed the contributions of Wells Catering including hosting events III the <br />community, participation in Happy Days, and the upgrade oftheir facility. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Members Elvig, Steffen, LeTourneau, Steffen, <br />V oting No: None. Absent: Members Kiefer, Schindel, and Strommen. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Business Appreciation Day <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan stated the invitation has been made for Business <br />Appreciation Day. The invitation is included in the packet. The entry fee has been increased by <br />$10 and the hole sponsorship has increased by $5. Lawn chairs with the Ramsey logo will be <br />given away at the event this year.
