V oting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Jeffrey, Dehen, Look, and <br />Olson. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Strommen. <br /> <br />Case #13: Report from Personnel Committee <br /> <br />1) Consider Resolution Reappointing Board and Commission Members <br /> <br />Council member Jeffrey stated last year about this time the policy for reappointing board and <br />commission members was changed to invite the Chairs and Vice Chairs of the commissions to <br />join the Personnel Committee in the consideration of reappointments. This evening there were <br />three positions to consider; two individuals were considering reappointment and one was not. <br />Council member Jeffrey stated EDA Member John LeTourneau is seeking reappointment to the <br />EDA. The Personnel Committee heard from the Chair of the EDA, and the Committee is <br />recommending that John LeTourneau be reappointed to a six year term on the EDA. <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated EPB Member Bob Bentz is seeking reappointment to the EPB. <br />The Personnel Committee heard from the Chair and Vice Chair of the EPB and the Committee is <br />recommending that Bob Bentz be reappointed to a four year term on the EPB. Councilmember <br />Jeffrey stated there are vacancies on the EPB and the Park and Recreation Commission. They <br />would encourage folks to apply for those vacancies as they see fit. <br /> <br />Councilmember Olson noted there are also three vacancies on the Charter Commission. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey indicated the Personnel Committee will be interviewing in the fall prior <br />to September 3151, and along with that will be reviewing the policy for reappointment of board <br />and commission members. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to ratify the <br />recommendation of the Personnel Committee in Case No.1 to adopt Resolution #07-08-205 <br />reappointing Bob Bentz to a four-year term on the Environmental Policy Board and reappointing <br />John LeTourneau to a six-year term on the Economic Development Authority, and to thank Jon <br />aIds for his service on the EPB and on the Park and Recreation Commission. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Councilmember Dehen indicated as he understands it the Charter <br />Commission members are appointed by the District Court Judge. Mayor Gamec explained <br />individuals apply and the City sends the recommendation to the District Court Judge. However, <br />the individuals can go directly to the Judge if they prefer. Councilmember Dehen stated he has <br />difficulty in having persons that have been on the commissions having an upper hand in, the <br />whole appointment process.
