Background:

CASE # a

PUBLIC HEARING AND LEVY OF SPECIAL ASSESSMENTS
FOR THE 2007 STREET MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
By: Steven J Jankowski, City Engineer

The 2007 Street Maintenance Program consists of eleven individual projects addr~ssing
the maintenance needs of20.7 miles of streets. Seven projects involve crackfilllsea1coat
projects covering 15.3 miles of roadway. Four projects involve a 112 inch bituminous
overlay covering 5.5 miles. Individual projects have combined subdivisions having
similar pavement areas per unit into single projects to reduce administration costs.

All projects have been substantially completed and the final costs have been determined.
It is City policy to assess 50% of the project cost to the benefited property owners, while
the remaining half is financed through City general funds. Below is a summary of the
assessments proposed on each project along with a comparison to the costs estimated in
the project feasibility study in December of2006.

Proj ect
07 -02
07 -03
07 -04
07 -05
07 -06
07 -07
07-08
07 -09
07 -10
07-11

Riverwood Hills Plat 1
Fox Ridge Estates 1st & 2nd.
Crows Unplatted
High Point & 156th Ave.
Xenon St; Jackel St. & Iguana St.
MSA Streets .
Green Valley Estates 2nd
Shady Lawn Est, Trott Brk Rdg & Zirconium St
Section 15 (Unplatted)
Section 22 (Unplatted) N/o Alpine Dr.

Recommendation:

Actual
$245.52
$318.66
$242.19
$307.17
$196.68
$257.82
$1,705.08
$1,394.40
$880.10
$874.00

Feas.
