<br />CASE # J <br /> <br />Public Hearing <br />REQUEST FOR AN AMENDMENT TO A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR <br />'DIAMONDS SPORTS BAR AND GRILL: CASE OF DIAMONDS <br />By: Breanne Daines, Associate Planner <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Gary Gruber, the owner of Diamonds Sports Bar and Grill, me (Diamonds) is seeking an <br />amendment to his existing conditional use permit to allow music festivals, snowmobile racing, <br />. motocross, demolition derby, and rodeos on the property located at 7550 Highway #10 (Subject <br />Property). <br /> <br />In 1998,. the applicant applied for a conditional use permit to allow accessory outdoor <br />'recreational uses on the subject property. Tills permit was approved for the construction and <br />maintenance of 5 volleyballlbroomball courts and 3 softball fields on the Subject Property. In <br />2000, the applicant requested an amendment to the conditional use permit to allow batting cages, <br />a paintballcourse, hors.eshoe. pits, basketball, and roller hockey. The amendment was also <br />approved by the City Council. <br /> <br />Since the issuance of an amended conditional use permit, the applicant has requested nine special <br />events permits on the property. The most recent request held in May of this year included a <br />motorcycle run. Otherwise, all requests have been for special music concerts/festivals, and have <br />been about once per year. The applicant is seeking to amend the permit to eliminate the need to <br />obtain a special events permit for all events on the property. <br /> <br />The following items are enclosed for your information: <br /> <br />a. Proposed findings of fact <br /> <br />Notification: <br /> <br />City Code requires that property owners within 700 feet are notified of the public hearing. <br />Additionally, staff notified the Alpaca Estates residents of the request. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />Mr~ Gruber is seeking to amend the conditional use permit to allow music festivals, motocross, <br />snowmobile racing, demolition derby, and rodeos on the Diamonds property.
