August 14,2007 Mayor and City Council Members City of Ramsey Ramsey, Mn. 55303 Re: Amendment to Conditional Use Permit, Diamonds Sports Bar & Grill, Inc., 7550 Highway 10, Ramsey, Mn. Dear Mayor Gamec and City Council Members: I am respectfully requesting an amendment to the Conditional Use Permit CUP) for Diamonds Sports Bar & Grill. Commercial recreational uses are a Permitted Use in the Highway Business District, but outdoor recreational uses are a Conditional Use. I currently. am utilizing the Diamonds outdoor facilities for softball, volleyball, boot hockey, football and broomball. However, the interest in such sports activities and the ability of such activities to bring viability to a facility such as Diamonds has decreased over the past several years. At one time, these activities proved to be very successful. They no longer are. Thus, I must, by necessity change with the times. This is a major item to my business because of the considerable investment I have in the fields for these activities. I have not come to the decision lightly to change the outdoor activities to be provided at Diamonds, but it must be done if the business is going to continue to remain in operation. The changes in the CUP that I am requesting are as follows: 1. I am requesting approval to utilize the existing field areas for: Snowmobile events, motor cross events, extreme sports events (skateboarding, etcJ), tractor pull events, car shows, and similar types of related events. . 2. I am requesting approval for two music tent parties per year. All of the sporting events would end by 10:30 PM. The music tent parties would end at Midnight. These events will not be occurring with the daily frequency that the current sporting events at Diamonds occur. They will be held periodically throughout the year. I do not have a schedule as to when they will be held, but I will as part of the CUP provide a schedule as events are booked. 6
