Council Action: <br />APPROVE WORK SESSION SCHEDULE FOR NOVEMBER <br />By: Jo Thieling, City Clerk <br />Consent # 7 <br />Background: <br />As Council is aware, the Anoka- Hennepin School District and the Elk River School District both <br />have elections on November 6, which is the night of a regularly scheduled Council work session. <br />Due to the fact that the election affects Ramsey residents, City meetings are prohibited until the <br />polls are closed. The polls close at 8:00 p.m., which means the earliest Council could meet that <br />evening would be 8:01 p.m. <br />Staff is suggesting Council consider canceling the meeting for November 6 due to the election. <br />There is a fifth Tuesday in October and Council could schedule a work session for that evening <br />beginning at 5:30 p.m., if they choose. The topic for the agenda would be the 2008 Budget. <br />Staff is writing the motion for this consent case to schedule a work session for 5:30 p.m., <br />Tuesday, October 30, and to cancel the work session for November 6. If Council would prefer a <br />different schedule, this item may be pulled from the Consent Agenda and added at the end of the <br />meeting to discuss under Mayor /Council/Staff Input. <br />Motion to schedule a work session for 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2007, to discuss the 2008 <br />Budget, and to cancel the work session originally scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, November <br />6, 2007, due to the School Districts elections. <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Clerk <br />City Administrator <br />Assistant City Administrator <br />CC: 10/09/07 <br />
