BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />Anoka County, Minnesota <br />DATE: August 14, 2007 RESOLUTION #2007 -97 <br />OFFERED BY COMMISSIONER: LeDoux <br />REQUEST FOR SPEED ZONE STUDY ON <br />CSAH 5 (NOWTHEN BOULEVARD) <br />FROM TH 47 (ST. FRANCIS BOULEVARD NW) TO ALPINE DRIVE <br />WHEREAS, the Anoka County Board of Commissioners is responsible for the planning, construction, <br />and maintenance of the county highway system; and, <br />WHEREAS, the recognition for the need to study legally- ordered speed zones on segments of the <br />county highway system, in response to changes in traffic patterns, adjoining development and reconstruction <br />of highways, is a responsibility of the county board of commissioners; and, <br />WHEREAS, this area has experienced increased residential/commercial development and traffic <br />volumes; and, <br />WHEREAS, officials in the City of Ramsey are concerned with the speed of vehicles traveling on this <br />portion of CSAH 5; and, <br />WHEREAS, this portion of CSAH 5 has not had a speed zone study completed or requested since <br />2004; and, <br />WHEREAS, officials within the City of Ramsey have requested that a speed zone study be conducted; <br />WHEREAS, the conducting of appropriate engineering studies and the establishment of safe and <br />reasonable speed limits on segments of the county highway system is by statute the responsibility of the <br />Minnesota Commissioner of Transportation: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Anoka County Board of Commissioners hereby <br />requests the Minnesota Commissioner of Transportation to conduct the necessary studies and prepare orders <br />for safe and reasonable speed Limits on: <br />CSAH 5 (Nowthen Boulevard) from TH 47 (St. Francis Boulevard NW) to Alpine Drive. <br />BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that certified copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Minnesota <br />Commissioner of Transportation and the City of Ramsey. <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA) <br />COUNTY OFANOKA_ ) SS <br />I, Terry L.
