Nelson <br />Public Works Director Brian Olson <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Gamec called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 5:30 p.m. <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br />There was none. <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br />Case #1: Request for Authorization to Hire an Assistant City Engineer <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone stated that this position was approved as part of the 2007 <br />General Fund budget. She stated that the Assistant City Engineer will provide professional <br />engineering counsel, design and review, as well as assist with development of capital <br />improvements program, development of a street maintenance program and will also supervise <br />the City's two engineering technicians. She stated that in June, staff was given authorization to <br />begin the recruitment process. She stated that nine people were interviewed and five had second <br />interviews. She stated that after this process was complete, staff is recommending that Tim <br />Himmer be hired. She stated that the starting hourly wage will be $33.48, of which 60% will <br />come from the General Fund and 40% will be covered by billable hours. She stated that if the <br />Council approves this hire, Mr Himmer would begin work on October 1, 2007 and will be <br />subject to a 6 -month probationary period. <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that he is not in favor of hiring new personnel right now.
