Ray Kclias
44854 E~ ~

Plymouth, MI 48170-3808

March 26, 1997

city of Ramsey
Planning Commission
15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W.
Ramsey, Mn 55303

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing in response to the Notice of Public Hearing on the Tom
Kurak property for a conditional use permit to mine and export
800,000 cubic yards of earth material from his property at 15001
Sunfish Lake Boulevard.

I am requesting that my comments be read and made part of the
record so people in attendance will know what our concerns are.

My wife and I own approximately a 3 1/2 acre lakefront parcel that
is located a little South and West of Mr. Kurak's property. We have
owned our property for over 20 years.

I am requesting that the planning commission deny this request for
a conditional use permit for the following reasons:

Removing earth material will ruin the integrity of the
existing shoreline and must not be allowed.

2. Zoning is in place to protect property owners from
unwanted uses.

If my memory serves me correctly, Mr. Kurak's property
should be able to accommodate residential development
with modest earth balancing and grading to accomplish the
development.

Removal of 800,000 cubic yards of material from this
property appears to be motivated purely for profit and
would not enhance the residential community.
