Nelson <br />Finance Officer Diana Lund <br />Public Works Director Brian Olson <br />Community Development Director Patrick Trudgeon <br />Environmental Coordinator Chris Anderson <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 6:18 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />The agenda was approved as submitted. <br /> <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1) Discussion of Potential Open Space Referendum <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that Andover and Plymouth have recently passed Open Space <br />Referendums. She asked Environmental Coordinator Chris Anderson to lead the discussion with <br />the City Council. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that both natural and open spaces are thought to be <br />contributing factors to a high quality of life. These areas can provide a myriad of benefits such <br />as recreational/educational opportunities, essential habitat for wildlife, and enhanced scenic <br />views. He stated that research has shown that proximity to natural open spaces can increase <br />property values.
