Nelson <br />Public Works Director Brian Olson <br />Community Development Director Patrick Trudgeon <br />Management Intern Timothy Gladhill <br />Elwyn Tinklenberg, The Tinklenberg Group <br />Mark Fersman, Northstar Project Director <br />Natalie Haas Steffen, Metropolitan Council <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:03 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />The agenda was approved as submitted. <br /> <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1) Discussion of Northstar Commuter Rail <br /> <br />Mr. Elwyn Tinklenberg, The Tinklenberg Group, stated one of the things that was clear in the <br />aftermath of the 35W Bridge collapse is that as they are looking at alternative ways of moving <br />large numbers of people, Northstar would have provided an opportunity to carry people <br />efficiently into downtown. They have seen from the success.ofthe Hiawatha line that the ability <br />of those kinds of services to do that far exceeds what they had anticipated, especially in special <br />circumstances around ball games or other kinds of events where that additional capacity is <br />needed. Northstar would have been an important part of the overall picture of things like the <br />redesign of 280 and 94 and other transit services.
