Case #4

CONSIDER MONUMENT SIGNAGE FOR INDUSTRIAL PARKS
By: Sean Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator

Background:

The EDA has discussed monument signs and possible locations in the past. At past
meetings a determination was made that stated that due to the cost of these types of
signs, it might be more prudent to create City of Ramsey signs at the City's entry
points. Staffwas recently approached by Central Minnesota Development
Company (CMDC) in regards to constructing monument signs for its industrial
parks. Staff has also contacted Connexus Energy to see if they would be a willing
partner in assisting with the location and lighting of the potential signs. Due to
favorable comments from both organizations Staff believes that it could now be
cost effective to revisit the construction of monument signs for the industrial parks.

Monument signage at key entry points to the industrial parks put~ a nice finishing
touch on a successful economic development effort in the community. Most All of
the City industrial parks have access points off of Bunker Lake Blvd and a Map
has been attached to the case to show where these access points are. AEC Energy.
Park, Sunfish Lake Business Park, Gateway North Industrial Park and Business
Park 95 are the main industrial parks in the City. Staff is looking for direction to
put together a cost analysis andto identify partners in this endeavor.

Funding Source:

The Funding Sources could potentially be: Central Minnesota Development
Company (CMDC), Connexus Energy, and the Ramsey EDA

Recommendation:

Direct Staff to put together a cost analysis, identify partners, and to locate key
locations for monument signage for the industrial parks.

EDA Action:

Motion to Direct Staff to put together a cost analysis, identify partners, and to
locate key locations for monument signage for the industrial parks.

EDA: 10.18.07

15
