<br />Summary of H RA Member Questions <br />September 4, 2007 work session <br /> <br />What Does Affordable Housing Mean to You? <br /> <br />. Owner Occupied or rental housing affordable to people working low wage jobs. May <br />or may not be subsidized. <br /> <br />. Known as housing options for those that make a % of the median income relative to <br />the area - the key being affordable to that economic sector of the society. <br /> <br />. Housing necessary to support workers with limited educational opportunities. <br /> <br />. Affordable housing means that people who are employed full time in occupations that <br />they can expect to hold throughout their working life would have an opportunity to <br />buy or rent decent housing even if their income in not very high. <br /> <br />. Housing that can be attained by the majority of the local workforce. <br /> <br />. Workforce housing is a housing unit of a variety of layouts that allows persons-families <br />(young or old) the ability to have reasonable housing environment at a price consistent <br />to their earning capacity. This includes young people who may be starting off their <br />carears while paying off or going to more schooling. Divorced or widowed, etc. <br /> <br />What are your 3 key housing objectives over the next 5- 1 0 years? <br /> <br />1. Diversity of housing to meet the needs of all income levels <br />2. Enough housing for everyone who wants to live in Ramsey <br />3. Meet the housing needs of our aging citizens <br /> <br />1. Range of options including ownership, style, price, size, etc <br />2. Quality and attractive housing design <br />3. . Stability vs. turnover <br /> <br />1. Senior market rate housing <br />2. Market rate apartment in town center <br /> <br />1. More Iifecycle options <br />2. More housing <br />3. High quality walkable communities <br /> <br />1. Housing that is supportive of the tax base = $400,000 value or more <br /> <br />1. Worker for the businesses that are here and with this workforce we can attract businesses <br />easier. <br />2. Life-cycle - starter home, apartment, 2-3 year homeowner, senior <br />3. We must also look at internal transportation <br /> <br />1. Density around town center area - workforce through upper end. <br />2. Incentives to create interest in high end housing, some estates, $500,000 and up. <br />3. Promote a variety of housing (architecturally) and detour cookie cutter multi single family <br />side by side style housing. <br />
