Ms. Schulz stated the <br />residents deserve a little respect from the Planning Commission. <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik entered into the record the following letters: Ray Kellas, 44854 Erin <br />Street; Barry Childs, 6040 151 st Lane NW; Jerry and Maryjeanne Ameson, 5851 146th Lane NW; <br />and Tom and Julie Schacht, 6060 151st Lane NW; all stating their concern with regard to this <br />application and requesting the application be denied. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Thorud and seconded by Commissioner LaDue to enter the four letters into <br />the public hearing minutes. <br /> <br />Motion carded, voting Yes: Acting Chairperson Deemer, Commissioners Thorud, LaDue and Terry. <br />voting No: None. Absent: Chairperson Bawden, Commissioners Holland and Jensen. <br /> <br />Rita Knoll, 6020 151st Avenue NW, asked if all the information is in the permit so it can be <br />considered and if the information satisfies the legal requirements. She asked if the project, in its final <br />stage, will be in the best interest of the residents and City as a whole. She asserted it is not "all there" <br />and asked how much soil will be removed, 100,000 or 800,000 cubic yards of fill. Ms. Knoll stated <br />if removal of this amount of fill is not needed for the residential development, then it is really a <br />commercial fill project. She pointed out that the northeast row of trees provides a natural screening <br />barrier and is needed for such a mining operation to take place. She suggested the hill should remain <br />to provide protection to the residential area and school. Ms. Knoll asked if not as many trees would <br />need to be removed or if the level of the hill would be impacted if 800,000 cubic yards is not <br />removed. Ms. Knoll stated she is not opposed to development but wants to assure the project looks <br />good and is in the best interest of the City as a whole. <br /> <br />Acting Chairman Deemer clarified the trees on the eastern boundary will not be clear cut and an <br />embankment, similar to Fox Knoll Second, will exist. <br /> <br />Mr. Knoll asked how residents are to determine this will occur.: City Engineer Jankowski explained <br />that everything-betm~ the 878 contour will be removed and ~ that contour will remain. <br /> <br />Maseus Zajade, 6250 - 151 st Avenue, inquired regarding the impact on his property value as a result <br />of this project. He asked what they are to do with the blowing sand for over 12 hours each day. Mr. <br />Zajade also expressed concern with possible truck congestion. <br /> <br />Tom Kempher, 6211 - 152nd Avenue, stated he just purchased his house within the last few days and <br />had no notice of this project. He stated it'he had known, he would not have made this purchase. Mr. <br />Kempher stated he is not in favor of the project due to concern with noise, traffic congestion, and <br />heavy truck traffic. He stated he is very dismayed in having walked into the middle of this to find out <br />a project of this magnitude is taking place.
