Mr. Rothburn stated that he feels it can be done at eye level by shooting the elevation.

Chair Elvig suggested that Mr. Rothburn continue to work with City staff and there will be
further discussion at the October 16, 2007 Public Works meeting.

Ron Whaley, 5650 149th Lane, stated that he would like to know what the plans are for finishing
the walking trail near his home. He stated that there is currently about 3 feet of dirt piled up
along the trail. He stated that kids are hanging around and he is afraid they will get hurt. He
asked if there was a possibility of constructing a fence along the trailway.

Public Works Supervisor Reimer stated that restoration work begins tomorrow, but he stated that
there is no plan to install a fence.

Mr. Whaley stated that he feels something is needed to make sure the kids only cross the street
by the school. He stated that a fence will help kids stay on the trail and not be cutting through
yards and causing problems.

Chair Elvig asked if Mr. Whaley was asking that the entire walkway be fenced off to create a
corridor.

Mr. Whaley confirmed that this was what he had in mind.

Chair Elvig stated that the City could discuss this possibility. He stated that he has noticed the
drop off and is also somewhat concerned abo~t safety. He stated that the dirt pile is a novelty for
kids and if they see dirt, they will throw it around. He stated that the City will have staff take a
look at the situation and consider Mr. Whaley's suggestions.

Chair Elvig closed the citizen input portion of the meeting at 5:44 p.m.

APPROVE AGENDA

Chair Elvig stated that he wanted to add Case #10 to the agenda regarding a discussion about
electing a Vice-Chair for this Committee.

Motion by Councilmember Dehen, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to approve the agenda
with the addition of Case #10, as noted above.

Motion carried.
