not improve safety. This intersection can be considered as a low volume intersection as is
evidenced by the daily traffic counts above.
The petition also references the existing Stop signs on the east and west legs of Riverdale
Drive at the Armstrong intersection. While this would appear to be a similar situation to
the current request it must be noted that Armstrong Boulevard is the extension of a
county roadway which is only 300 feet from Highway 10 and is a signalized intersection.
Through traffic coming down Armstrong at this intersection is considerably more likely
to feel that they have the right of way at the Riverdale intersection,
Recommendations:
Staff recommends that the trees within the right of way on the northeastern corner be
trimmed or removed to meet the requirements of the City's vision triangle ordinance.
Staff recommends that the existing signage at this intersection is appropriate and
recommends no change in the signage at the intersection of Riverdale Drive and Alpaca
Street.
Action:
Motion to recommend to City Council that the existing signage at this intersection is
appropriate and recommends no change in the signage at the intersection of Riverdale
Drive and Alpaca Street.
Reviewed By:
Director of Public Works/Principal City Engineer
Assistant City Engineer
Public Works Street Supervisor
Police Chief
PW: 10/16/07
-162-
